Bush to Beach – Australia’s Best Spring Hikes Ending by the Sea

Bush to Beach – Australia’s Best Spring Hikes Ending by the Sea

Spring in Australia is the season of transformation—the land is blooming, the weather is warming, and the coastlines call with a soft kind of urgency. At Unearth Style Co., we believe that the best hikes are the ones that lead you somewhere breathtaking... like a secluded stretch of sand at the edge of the world.

Whether you're chasing salt air or searching for stillness, these bush-to-beach trails will take you there.

1. Bouddi Coastal Walk (NSW)

Distance: 8.5km one-way

This iconic Central Coast hike snakes along cliffs, through shaded bushland, and opens up to hidden beaches like Maitland Bay. It's a sensory journey—think birdsong, wildflowers, sandstone underfoot, and salt on your skin. Take your time, pause for photos, and cool off in the sea at the end.

2. Cape to Cape Track – Gracetown to Prevelly (WA)

Distance: ~20km section

While the full Cape to Cape takes several days, this stunning section gives you cliffs, caves, turquoise waters, and whale sightings if you're lucky. Ideal for day-hikers who want the wild with a splash of wine country charm (hello Margaret River!).

3. Freycinet Peninsula Circuit (TAS)

Distance: 30km loop (can do short sections)

Home to Wineglass Bay, this hike offers towering pink granite peaks and aqua shores. Pack light and slow your pace—you’ll want to linger at every lookout. Sunrise swims recommended.

4. Great Ocean Walk – Blanket Bay to Parker Inlet (VIC)

Distance: 10.8km

Less travelled than the drive but way more immersive, this section of the Great Ocean Walk brings you through towering gums and onto secluded beaches along Victoria’s rugged coast. Take off your boots and walk the final stretch barefoot.

5. Noosa National Park Coastal Track (QLD)

Distance: ~10km return

This trail gives you both worlds—lush tropical greenery and stunning beach lookouts. Dolphins, koalas, and the occasional echidna join you on this breezy hike. Stop at Tea Tree Bay for a post-walk dip.

Tips for Bush-to-Beach Hiking:

- Pack a lightweight towel and swimwear

- Bring plenty of water and sun protection

- Hike in breathable, moisture-wicking layers

- Carry your Unearth journal to capture the details of the journey

- Always leave no trace—respect the land, the ocean, and the creatures

The best adventures offer contrast—sweaty climbs followed by salty swims, solitude followed by surrender. This October, let your trail lead to tide. For more slow travel ideas and coastal escapes, sign up to the Unearth Style Co. newsletter and follow our journey at @unearthstyleco.
